The story
Texas flexes here every October — Art Deco bones under funnel-cake smoke.
Fair Park is a National Historic Landmark Art Deco campus built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. Big Tex, the giant cowboy mascot, towers over the State Fair of Texas midway every fall (rebuilt after the 2012 fire). Year-round museums fill the historic buildings.
