The Grassy Knoll
The most argued piece of lawn in American history — and still free to walk.
The story
The most argued piece of lawn in American history — and still free to walk.
The Grassy Knoll is the small slope and wooden picket fence on the north side of Elm Street in Dealey Plaza. Witnesses stood here as the motorcade passed; Abraham Zapruder's filming pergola sits nearby. For decades the knoll has been the center of second-shooter theories — whether you buy them or not, it is part of how America argues about that day.
