Good-Latimer Tunnel murals (legacy)

Where Deep Ellum learned it could cover every wall.

The wall

In 1992 the Deep Ellum Community Association invited artists to paint the Good-Latimer tunnel — Frank Campagna helped rally writers for a one-day blitz. The tunnel was repainted often and became the neighborhood's chaotic welcome. Highway changes and Traveling Man sculptures altered the corridor, but the tunnel era is the origin myth of Deep Ellum mural culture.
