Dallas Pegasus (original at Omni)
This horse is Dallas. Oil money, neon, and a skyline logo you can finally stand next to.
The story
This horse is Dallas. Oil money, neon, and a skyline logo you can finally stand next to.
The red neon Pegasus was built in 1934 by Texlite Signs and spun atop the Magnolia Building as a welcome for the American Petroleum Institute. It became Mobil's flying horse and Dallas's unofficial mascot. Weathered and removed in 1999, the original panels were restored and installed in 2015 in the plaza at the Omni Dallas Hotel — still red, still neon, now at eye level.
